As you get into the caravan park, the office is a house on the right hand side approx 500m down the road. Note that the right hand turn into the caravan park is very very tight - too tight for trailers and caravans. If you continue past the caravan park there is a U turn facility which allows an easy approach to the caravan park turnoff to the left.
No bookings, especially at Christmas time, no length of stay, no fixed departure / arrival dates. Can pay daily.
Strictly first come and first serve basis. There is a turn over of people every day.
Charges the same all year round. Minimum charge per site per car is $14.50 includes two adults. Kids are $4.20 extra per day. Extra Adults $7.30. Two adults and 2 kids are $22.90 per night.
They do not turn anyone away. There is always space and there is always room for someone to stop and sleep. You may be asked to move trailers away from prime camping areas. Boats can (and usually are ) be parked on Dunn's beach.
Mozzies. Bring repellant. This makes life better. Bring sunscreen.
People should not arrive after dark. If you are going to, please ring and pre arrange with the office. This is to ensure other people especially children are not disturbed after dark.
Fires only in pre built approved places. Please bring your only firewood. There are 6 in the park and several more in the foreshore area.

Elanda Point, Lake Cootharaba
Lake Cootharaba is part of the Noosa Lakes system on the Sunshine Coast. Travelling north along Bruce Highway, take the Cooroy turnoff and continue to Pomona. Take the Boreen Road and just as you are entering the village of Boreen Point turn left/north to Elanda Point.
Campground is off this road and the last few kms are on gravel road.
A lovely camping are beside Lake Coothraba. Plenty of camping site and a few powered sites. Great area for families. There are hot showers available near the kiosk at the entrance to the park and toilet blocks in the camping ground without hot water. However the latter are starting to show their age and are badly in need of refurbishment. We had a problem with our refrigerator and managment were extremely helpful in overcoming it. Price is now $9 per person per night unpowered and is reasonable (just) value for money. Average management. Very good park atmosphere, quiet, open and roomy park, shady park, family-friendly park. Suitable for a week or more.
Roads: Bitumen, except the last 2kms which is gravel and at the time of our visit, badly maintained.

Very unfriendly staff. Price was higher than expected, reasonable value for money ($88.00 A6 C4 per night unpowered). Inadequate number of amenities, are close to only some sites, were dirty, condition is poor, water pressure is bad, there was adequate hot water. Adequate number of tourist sites, mostly level sites, good night lighting, average sized sites, drive-through sites, poor water quality. Basic laundry, basic rec room, kiosk. Noisy, claustrophobic park, not enough shade. No pets allowed. No bbqs, no playground, no pool. Likes: The position of the park itself is great for kids with the shallow lake and small beach area at the front.
Dislikes: Large concerns about park safety with vehicles being allowed to use beach as boat ramp. I witnessed a few close shaves with small children playing on the beach. This problem needs to be rectified ASAP before a child is killed. Toilets were in a poor state, and there was a lack of rubbish dump spots. Lovely position if you can get down by the water otherwise stinking hot. Until this place has new management and has a good clean up and safety issues looked at I would not return. Local Information: the lake is great for kids , great wildlife, nice beach at lake.
Date 12/2005. Campground Rating 3: Suitable for few days.

A great pub within walking distance of the yacht club. Accommodation separate from the hotel so you can get a good sleep far away from the pub.
Good food, great service. They hold spit roasts or a conventional restaurant where patrons can either eat under the trees (benches and long tables) or indoors.
The Heron Association hold the Jack Holt Regatta at Lake Cootharabra on the May Day long weekend and this regatta has become the de facto end of season event for the Mirrors. We usually spend at least one evening here, as part of the prize giving. They are totally used to sailing people.

Noosa and environs
Noosa is some half an hour's drive from Lake Cootharabra.
A google search of Noosa Accommodation in pages from Australia revealed many hits.
http://www.rwnoosaholidays.com.au
A sample search of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms sleeps four revealed prices from $2000 to $5600 for the Christmas week. The Christmas week was defined on the website as 20/12/09 till 1/1/10. The prices did not appear to define a week start or stop day. Some of the advertised accommodation did have a daily price and minimum stay lenghts of 5 days.
I found no evidence of fixed 7 day cycles although most accommodation seems to advertise weekly rates.
http://www.noosa.com.au/
120 properties in a radius of less than 5Km. There was less immediate information regarding rates and conditions.
Essentially there is plenty of accommodation to suite all tastes.
